Here is one of the projects that most attracts me annually in the world of free flight: Flight in Axixá do Tocantins-TO, region of the Beak of Papagaio - Every year between AUGUST and SEPTEMBER.
Every year we organize a meeting between paragliding flying friends there, managed by pilots and friends of Imperatriz-MA (which is only 35km from Axixá), lasting two weeks. With this window of available days we can always give flexibility so that flying friends can organize with more convenience to be present. We have friends who stay three days, five days, a week ... others (luckier) stay until two weeks. It makes no difference, the important thing is the presence and fun of all friends. 
A general rule we have for these meetings is to avoid the spirit of competition and foster the spirit of fun, camaraderie, collaboration and safe flights for everyone. We always schedule some kind of get-together and always do our best so that everyone can have the best support structure for access to the ramp and also the best rescue logistics for distance flights.
As this is a meeting, we do not charge registration fees or provide support infrastructure. What we do is with pleasure and satisfaction to assist everyone in organizing their necessary structures for fun days of safe flights. Well, this year I spent two weeks flying in Axixá and having a great time with friends from different regions of Brazil. It was a lot of days and we even had a Tocantins state record crash made by two local pilots (Ney "10zano" Sosthenes and Williame "Major" Teles) with 214km flown.
On the first day I arrived to fly we opted for a light acclimatization flight without major pretensions and marked a route to the Beak of the Parrot, meeting the rivers Tocantins and Araguaia - triple border MA x TO x PA, a total of 105km in a straight line. We made the whole flight flying together, without hurry, without stress and with a lot of laughs and landed at 4 in the goal scored.
Another great mini-flight, landing at the entrance of Esperantina-TO which was the goal for the flight of the day. It was a lot of fun and once again proving that any paraglider flies if the pilot uses the experience and believes in the fun above all. The GT2 is a fun EN-B certified minivab and also certified for use with paramotor. A toy delight ... a toy for big people. 
From day 2 we began to devote ourselves a little more to flying farther and seeking the elevation of the best free cross mark of the ramp, which was also the best in the state, which was at 209km. 
In the first week we had some good flights and the dynamic duo Major and 10zano sent 170km on the 3rd day while I crashed on 40km. On the 4th day I went flying alone and, despite the beautiful flight, I was penalized for the very grated start in the first 50km. I landed at 198km and less than a record thermal. We closed the first week having a great time, receiving more friends from other regions and making beautiful flights over 100km.
The second week started promising and with good flights. On the 2nd day of this week we had a good cycle and me and local pilot Kbeça (flying double) took off almost 1h before the crowd. It was the day to do 300km ... Kbeça and I arrived at 100km before 13h and had another 5h of flight ahead. Unfortunately we gave a flinch ... I fell at 103km and Kbeça a little further. But the day promised and following a good teamwork the duo Major and 10zano broke the ramp and state record, taking the mark to 214km.
Amazing how we managed to reconcile the performance flight with the fun between friends in Axixá without letting the size of the flight define the size of our daily joy. For me it was 14 days of fun, of which 13 also flying.
This year I stayed at the Meeting Hotel Meeting of Waters, in Araguatins-TO, in front of the Araguaia River, border of Tocantins with Pará. The hotel has beautiful and comfortable double, triple and double rooms, complete leisure with swimming pool, sauna and games room and also offers a beautiful and trendy bar and restaurant attached: Vicente.
Araguatins is 60km from Axixá do Tocantins by asphalt and 40km by sky (flying). In addition to a beautiful reference for the beginning of our flights, Araguatins also offers a beach landing, Ponta Beach - situated on the middle island, where we usually land to fraternize with friends. Some days we chose to land at the entrance gate to avoid the beach sand on the paragliders.
Landing on the beach or in the portal, we gather the crowd and head to the traditional gathering at Vicente Bar, where we enjoy good laughter, beautiful snacks, delicious fish and the inevitable heavy teasing of our great friend and host Ney 10zano.
