This site is under annual special use permit assessment with State Park and National Agencies so please don't fly here unless accompanied by an active SDHGPA (San Diego Association) member and receive a complete site briefing for current LZ options down in the Mason Valley.

Laguna is primarily known as a Big East Facing XC Site. . . for Thermal and Convergence flying. It can also be good in Pre and post Monsoonal conditions. Although Laguna can be tempting and fun for summer evening katabatic flying when horse is blowing down as well as being fun mild Santa Ana days, be advised that the nearest LZ to Launch is a 45 min drive down to the dessert floor and having a dedicated driver is required. The San Diego club has a special use permit to access the upper launch, which is generally preferred for paragliders. Far from launch, you need to find lift to get to it. Very sensitive land owner issues. Don't fly if you don't know where to land! The San Diego club OWNS the only legal LZ in valley below Launch. You MUST be a member (cheep) and get a site briefing BEFORE flying here. Very long retrieve cycle to go get a pilot back up to launch from the LZ. Very few areas are OK to land, otherwise you may get a visit from the police car. Current USHPA and SDHGPA membership required. The San Diego club OWNS the only legal LZ in paraglider range. You MUST be a member (cheep) and get a site briefing BEFORE flying here. Contact info on the club web site. http://www.sdhgpa.com/lagu... Current USHPA and SDHGPA membership required.
