Alternative - LZ Savoy (relatively near gondola), but is prohibited in winter. Gondola from Chamonix -special traiffs for PG in summer: 12,20EUR as of summer 2012. Winds > 20kmh from W - N: very turbulent; you'll be flying the lee side! If on a good day nobody is flying from there - there must be a good reason. Instead go to the Plain Joux site just 20km to the west (near Passy), most likely everybody will be there.
