One of the most spectacular walk-up and fly down sites in Lombardia.
From the top of Monte Crocione, or if want to walk some meters higher, also from monte Tremezzo is OK. Nearby Bellagio, so you have to cross the Como lake to get there, but it is possible with a good margin, unless you start low or face a moderate wind. The long but not so wide grass strip perpendicular to the peninsula. It is said this grass strip was an airport one (for small airplanes of course). Usually the landing direction is towards WEST. Beware of some high trees next to it and a power line crossing it on the western side. To come back use the ferry from Bellagio to Cadenabbia, Tremezzo or Menaggio. The footpath starts from Tremezzo. You can either leave ther car at the beginning of the trail, and return by ferry afterwards, or leave it at Bellagio, and take ferry before going up the mountain. Some useful advise and GPS track for getting up the mountain and flight can be found here: http://www.camptocamp.org/... Ferry schedules: http://www.comoeilsuolago....
Do no fly with Northern wind! In spring and summer thunderstorms can form very quickly.
