This site can be a good alternative flying site for Corio in presence of atmospheric inversion from 1100 ... 1800m which makes it impossible to use Corio for XC or even local flights. Despite that, it is rarely frequented by local pilots as it involves 1-2hrs of trekking. Much better if you have a mountain glider - enjoy the trekking in the morning and flight in the afternoon! From Soglio usual routes are to circle the Corio valley, to fly towards Santa Elisabeta or Cavallaria sites, or fly towards the peak of Angiolino and then towards Val della Torre by crossing the entrance of Valle di Lanzo. You can also fly to Ciavanis but it is more technical, requires knowledge of zone and weather and experience. In presence of SE wind and no thermals, stay near the sides of Corio valley, othewise you won't make it to the landing.
On the peak of Monte Soglio (1971 m). The peak is a big smooth grass-field which makes the takeoff very easy. If flying in evening, make sure you launch before the wind changes direction from the back (west). It is quite hard to outrun it then. The same as Corio flying site. check out Corio page for more info. From Corio follow the indications to Pian di Audi (follow the gravel road Via Piano Audi until the end or the no trespassing sign). From the 1200m mark the last 700m you can trek in less than 2 hours. Do not fly more than few km away on the plains towards east, you will end up in CTR of Caaselle International Airport. Glider traffic is oftern present in the area. Do not fly more than few km away on the plains towards east, you will end up in CTR of Caaselle International Airport. Strong NW and foen winds. o not fly with them. Rotors are present just below the summit.
