Great costal site north of Perth. The only flights site near Perth the works with S wind. Drive north from Perth for about 160km, turn left on secondary bitumen road when you see a LDTA direction sign on the Indian Ocean drive (Lancelin Defense Training Area). Several tracks lead to the beach. Best option is to drive straight from the end of the bitumen road across the shack community and find the main beach access to the “boat ramp”. From here drive south along the beach and then east along the sand dunes as long as you wish. Keep an eye to the tide; cars don’t usually like to be driven in salt water. If you don’t have a 4x4 just drive towards the dune, park the car near a shack and walk across the dunes to the beach.
Site best flown with at least 24 km/h winds, small but long series of dunes, needs strong winds to stay afloat. In weak wind the lift band can be too narrow for more than one glider at time. The ridge can be often flown from end to end (2 km). Strong winds are needed in order to “jump” several gaps on the eastern side, careful for Venturis. Bring the fishing rod for parawaiting.
Low but quite steep dunes and full of vegetation at the back.
