Always walk to the top to see what the true wind strength and direction is like. Top landing is possible and quite simple, but there is a single electricity wire on top, marked by poles.
Take off at the top, but you must walk up. Landing in small fields below the hill, north or west of the road, as the fields between the road and the mountain are quite steep. *Please note that there will always be telephone wires beside the roads. **Please take care not to land in fields near to Horses or cattle. One approaches the take off from the south side of the mountain. From Millstreet Town, go south towards Macroom for about 3-4km. Take the first turn right at the small square castle 200m off the road. You will drive right beside this castle on the way up. Follow up this road for 3km and take last right turn. There is an old sign on the gate that reads 'Please close the gate'. DO NOT close this gate. It is always open. Go up this road for 500m and there is a small area for parking on the grass near two gate piers (there is no gate). Walk up from here, through the fields. There is a small gate at the top of the fields. The walk should take about 20 minutes. Keep below 5500ft. Keep below 5500ft.
