This site is rarely flown as there are many other Northerly and better sites in the area... but it is nice for a change. There are small trees in front of Launch and these are getting taller, but do not yet affect the flying. There are two house thermals here. 1. from the Farm shed below the take off. 2. from the gulley...200m left of the take off. Dont go over the back in a southeast direction as you will be in Restricted Airspace.
Follow the forestry road up the hill (across the road from the Car Parking area). It is no more than a 10 minute walk. Launch anywhere after the road ends. In high winds it is possible to launch from a small ridge (knob) 20m below the roadway. If you decide to launch here, then there expect very strong winds at top of hill level.... stay well out in front. There is no dedicated landing area here. Normally we land is east of the Car Park. Or else land anywhere down the valley. Even in high winds it is safe to behind the car park as there are no obstructions. From Millstreet Town, take the road Southeast, direction 'Millstreet Country Park' or Rylane for km until you come to the very top of the pass. This area is known as 'The Top of Togher' Park here and walk up. (Map attached as one of the site photos) Dont go too far over the back to the southeast. It is restricted airspace Dont go too far over the back to the southeast. It is restricted airspace
It can be very windy here.
